Here at Todd L. Jolly, DMD we have a range of dental bridges that we can place on your dental gap to help give you a great smile. A dental bridge may be made up of two or even more crowns. When you have missing teeth due to an accident or any other cause, a dental bridge may come in handy to bridge the gap.

The Advantages of Using Dental Bridges

There are various benefits you stand to gain if you decide to have dental bridges placed in your mouth. As mentioned before, you may need a dental bridge when you lose teeth in an accident for instance. When you have a dental bridge placed in your dental gap, you can restore a great smile as well as restore your ability to speak and chew properly.

Sometimes when you have missing teeth, the shape of your face may look somewhat unsightly. Our dentists here will help you restore the shape of your face by placing high-quality dental bridges for you. Still, when you have some teeth missing from your mouth, your bite forces may not be well distributed. You will need to have a dental bridge to help ensure that your bite forces become well distributed in your mouth. Another reason to have a dental bridge placed on your dental gap is to help prevent your remaining teeth from getting out of position.

What is the Process for Getting a Dental Bridge?

As you come to visit us for your dental bridge placement, our dentists will have an abutment tooth prepared. Next, re-contouring of the teeth may be done in which a portion of the enamel will be removed to make space for a crown to be placed over them. An impression for the model of the teeth will then be taken and then sent to a dental lab for making.

As you wait for the bridge to be made, our dentists will make a temporary bridge for you to wear. The temporary bridge helps to protect the now exposed gums and teeth. Once the permanent bridge is made and ready, the temporary bridge will then be removed, and the new bridge placed. The bridge could be that made of metal or porcelain. Before you leave, our dentists will check to ascertain if the bridge has properly anchored on the gap.

It may take a couple of days or several days for some patients to have their newly installed bridges to hold firmly in place. Our dentists will always be available for you during your next visits to assess the progress of the inserted bridge. You will also be educated by our dentists about the proper oral care when you have the bridge placed on your dental gap.

If you wish to have your missing teeth be replaced with high-quality bridges why not consider contacting Todd L. Jolly, DMD at (973) 235-0333 to get the best state-of-the-art dental bridge placement. We look forward to helping you in any way that we can.
